It might have drawn more attention to herself, sitting out in the courtyard in her everyday clothes if it had been raining. Or perhaps snowing. Now, though, it was perfectly sunny with barely a cloud in the sky. At least, certainly not a menacing one. The girl wasn't at all out of place among her fellow classmates who were still loitering around the courtyard. Granted, though, she may have had a bit more of a regal, thinks more of herself bearing to her. But that was more due to her upbringing than anything else that had passed through her years at Hogwarts. She was unaffected even by the fact that her nose was very much buried in her book. Everything going on in her vicinity barely seemed to even draw her attention up and out of her focus. Nor did she flinch as some unidentified flying object flew right over her head, other than sending a dark glare at the person who was to blame. She most certainly did not appreciate unknown projectiles flying over her head with all potential to land in her hair, or on her book though. The girl was most certainly not in the mood to deal with those unnamed, unrecognized hooligans who thought they were all high and mighty. Perhaps they hadn't quite received the memo that Slytherins weren't the people to be messed with at the moment.
Vespira hadn't truly meant to venture out of the dungeons that housed the Slytherin common room and dormitories today. She would have, she was sure, much rather have passed the time perhaps organizing her school supplies. Maybe righting up a letter on how the year was going so far to her mother in order to keep her mad questions at bay. The young witch had certainly not been settled on braving the outside world when she had woken up this morning. In fact, the girl would have been perfectly content just trying to make it through the day. The extra tension that was supplied by her classmates haven't been anywhere in her plans for the day. Though her plans for a relaxing weekend were just a bit ruined by the turn of events so far. To imagine that it wasn't even halfway through the day was a bit of a nightmare. Just a bit for this did Vespira wish that she had decided to spend a peaceful day locked up in her dormitory finishing up whatever homework she had left. Well, there was no backing out now.
Vespira's lips lifted in a smile mostly directed at her book at the one simple little thought. Her mental commentary almost made it seem as if facing her fellow students was like going off to war. Granted, there was a rather justified comparison there, no one had really done anything to warrant her temper that. At least, almost everyone hadn't she thought, casting another glare in the direction of the projectile launching hooligans. Her classmates of the other Hogwarts houses surely weren't all that big fans of anyone of her house at the moment. Completely justified, she was sure, as she had known a group of her housemates to go out and terrorize the corridors at night. The girl pitied the people, quite a bit, who would get caught in the corridors by her housemates after hours. Especially those of a questionable blood status. A vast majority of them wouldn't much care who they were hexing (or cursing). She had met her housemates, after all, and quite a few of them were most definitely nasty, slimy gits.
The young witch let out a soft sigh as she glanced back down at her book, which still lay open on her knees. She pushed back a pesky wild, dark stray curl from it's path waving in a very irritating manner in front of her face. Her eyes skimmed the pages of her book as she flipped another page, her eyes completely focused on the pages of her novel. It was an interesting book, granted, and something for her to enjoy outside in the beautifully pleasant weather. After all, there was only just a bit of time left before the snow would arrive and disrupt her relatively rare, peaceful days lounging in the courtyard with a good book. The Slytherin preferred the sunlight of the outside world. Quite a bit more, in fact than the distorted green light that filled the common room, a result of it being located beneath the lake. The common rooms, therefore were rather eery and had an almost haunting, slightly foreboding feel to them. Of course, the feeling and environment was quite fitting to the personalities of some of her housemates.
The teenager's eyes did however raise up from her novel once again as she breathed a disgruntled sigh. The striking gaze of her eyes was, however blocked by a form that seemed to be towering over her. Just so as to cut off all of the light that would have allowed her to read. That was, without ruining her eyesight as she was reading. "Excuse me my towering friend." Her voice snapped, just a bit snobbily. "Would you mind moving out of my light? Or at least moving your shadow?" She added, verifying her point as if her little, or rather tall guest wouldn't understand unless having an explanation. "I can't read while you're standing there. If you were too daft to tell." Vespira punctuated her statement by raising her novel, waving it about just a bit. The girl had absolutely no inclination to play nice with whoever her visitor was. Blocking this girl's sunlight was absolutely no laughing matter. Today was supposed to be Vespira's day to just relax, at least a little bit without any sort of interruption. She wasn't supposed to have a possible giant looking person casting a rather large shadow right where she was reading. Therefore she was much less than a happy camper, and her unwanted guest hadn't even responded to her yet. Today wasn't turning out to be so much of a vacation day of sorts as she had first planned.

The teenage girl arched a well manicured eyebrow in response to the almost mocking laughter emanating from the boy who was currently towering over her. What a relief it was that he didn't draw out his wand or snap back with a quick, sharp tongued insult. Now, students of that quality were a dime a dozen. You turned a corner and you would end up running into one of them. Frankly, she was sure it was sure that there were quite a few too many people who were quick to snap back. She being not so much one of them. So, maybe she teetered just a little bit on the border of the both of them. Almost like a fine lines that she appeared to walk almost daily. Her opinions, of course, were kept to herself. She couldn't have the whole of Slytherin and half of the purebloods at Hogwarts rioting after her, after all.
Vespira smirked as the boy spoke, her lips turning up in the barest demonstration of her amusement. "Ice Princess? Hmm, that's a new one." The girl commented vaguely, glancing down as she marked her page and closed her book. It was evident that she wouldn't be getting much more reading done. "As for my charm, well, those who deny it are few and far between." She drawled with a soft exhale of skepticism. "Not one of the doubters, are we?" Vespira added with a rather cool smirk. It was one of the charms of being the daughter of a well established pure blood family. Her manners had been well rounded by the required lessons, not to mention her own mother. Now, it couldn't truly be her fault if she lost just a bit of that charm and those manners on some occasions. This being one of those times, well, she couldn't be all that sure.
"I actually was paying attention, or I wouldn't have noticed you standing in my light in the first place." Vespira replied, her tone rather chilling, more or less. Therefore, I might have eventually ruined my eyesight due to the lack of light that I would need to read, hadn't I noticed." The girl added, albeit just a little bit dramatically, despite the validity of the words she had spoken. "How is it, anyway that you reprimand my unapparent lack of attention when you weren't paying attention to where you were standing in the first place." Vespira retorted, arching an eyebrow at him once again. "Not to mention verbal warfare is not truly required in response." She added with an exhale of what could be identified as amusement. Vespira knew the ways of a bit of verbal warfare. Among her fellow Slytherins you adjusted to it's manners more quickly than not.
"Well, this victim of height difference and lack of sunlight does have a name as well." She replied. her words containing just a bit of a witty lilt to them. "I'm Vespira Flint." She added, just a few moments later. Vespira did, however allow for a bit of a dramatic pause, or just a pause in itself between her statements. The girl also filed his name away to remember at a later point in time. Benjamin Bradley. It seemed at least a little bit familiar to the sixth year, however she couldn't be so sure. For all she knew he could be someone chattered about in the common room (not in a very positive manner, either). However, the obvious declaration of his Quidditch robes named him as one of the many Quidditch players at Hogwarts. She had probably seen him in a match against Slytherin some time recently.
Vespira couldn't help herself from another eyebrow arch as the boy took a seat on the bench beside her. The common courtesy of asking before you sat, forgotten? well, it seemed so. "And now, it appears I have a buddy." Vespira added with a bit of an exasperated sigh, a slight smirk taking up residence once again on her lips. This conversation was definitely getting interesting.
