SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD

JUST AS MESSED UP AS ME
Tonight, William was in a rare mood. He couldn't sleep and he didn't really want to be kept locked up in his dorm room. Well, that was a lie. He could sleep. But his mind was haunted with dreams that he couldn't face tonight. He always had a cool exterior and seemed to not be afraid of anything. But what was in his dreams and thoughts, that frightened him beyond anything. He saw the look in his fathers eyes, the truth finally coming out about his supposed son. His siblings were standing behind him, wide eyed and unsure of what that meant. And when the statement of "his father is a Muggle" came out, that was what pushed his fake father over the edge. William made sure to wake himself up before he found out what punishment his father would inflect on him. He was sure it would be cruel and horrible. Even though it wasn't his fault who's father was his. But he was sure that Eli would kill him.
William ran a shaky hand through his hair. Yeah, staying in the dorm was not an option tonight. He felt confided and cramped in the space, even though it was anything but. He stood up and changed into regular clothes, picking a pair of nice jeans and a black button down shirt. He pulled on a gray jacket, knowing that the temperatures have been dropping down at night and if he was going break the rules, he was going outside where he was less likely to get caught. He pulled on his combat boots that he oh so loved before searching around for his wand. He could hear his dorm mate stir next to him as he rummaged around for it and realized he was getting loud when he had a pillow hit him in the back of the head. He chuckled and then whispered a "Sorry." Before quietly returning looking for his wand. "How in the world do you lose a stick of wood that is over a foot long?" He thought to himself.
His green blue eyes dashed around in the dark, looking for something that would give him light to continue his search. Thankfully though, he spotted the wand which was right where he put it, under his pillow. He rolled his eyes at himself before he quietly exited his dorm, shutting the door firmly, yet quietly. He walked to the common room, making sure to pause long enough to make sure it was empty before he made his way into the under ground dungeons. He walked confidently through the halls as he made his way from under ground, keeping his ears open for any foot steps that might be approaching. He didn't want any trouble with the prefects, head boy or girl, or professors. He wanted to avoid them at all costs and get himself outside of the castle as fast as possible. Which luck seemed to be on his side tonight, seeing as he had to dodge only one professor who seemed to be on their way to the kitchens for a midnight snack.
William got outside and was greated by the crisp cool air. He took a deep breath and thought for a moment, centering himself before he continued on his was towards the Forbidden Forest. No one seemed to poke around in there at night, so he figured he would be safe to venture in and spend some time amongst the tall trees. He knew he would be hidden from the castle, so it wasn't like he could get in trouble for being seen. He walked his way over the grassy field between the castle and forest, eager to get into the tree line and disappear from the castles sight. He felt like he could feel eyes on him but since he heard no shouts for him to stop, he was just being ridiculous and making things up in his head. His light eyes darted the tree line, making sure that nothing was there before he ventured in. His hand in his pocket, wrapped around his wand. You never knew what could pop out of the bushes at you.
As he walked in, it took his eyes a few seconds to adjust to the new darkness he entered. He stood motionless for a few seconds, closing his eyes slowly and opening them so that each time he opened them, he would see a little better. He did this until he could make out what was 20 feet in front of him before he ventured in a bit deeper into the forest. He pulled his wand out and said, "Lumos" once he knew he was far enough in that the light from his wand couldn't be seen from the castle. It definitely helped his eye sight and he started he slow stroll through the forest, his mind bouncing around different topics. He made a mental note to write his mother an owl soon, it had been a while. And he knew that she would be happy to have a letter from him. And he also though about his younger brother who was at Hogwarts as well. He hadn't seen him in a while either. So he would have to make sure to check in on him sometime soon.
