This was a bad idea. A muggle born should not be going to a some masquerade mystery dance. Especially after hearing that there would be a blood bath. Obviously no pure bloods would be apart of that said blood bath. Mainly half bloods and mostly muggle borns. It was just straight up stupid for anyone who wasn't claimed to go to the ball. But her friends got the best of her. They figured she would be safe if she kept away from unknown strangers. Plus, everyone would be wearing masks so its not like anyone would recognize her. She had no distinguishing marks on her skin that was showing that would give her away. She had no tattoos or odd piercings. She decided not to wear the necklace Henry gave her, just in case someone recognized it. She felt somewhat safe just knowing that her face would be covered. Even if her mask was covering just around her eyes and the bridge of her nose.
She wasn't exactly a popular girl either. So even if some of her face was showing, not a lot of people would be able to say a name for her. It wasn't that she was antisocial. She just was particular about who she spends her time with. And those people were waiting for her down in the common room. She sighed lightly to herself. Her room mates had already dashed out, excited that they had dates and people to dance the night away with. She didn't have that so much. She had the group she was going with, which consisted of a few couples and a few girls who didn't have or want dates. So at least she wouldn't be a third wheel with anyone. She stood tall in front of her mirror, her dress fell to the floor, brushing it slightly while she stood there. It was a beautiful silk dress that was strapless and hugged her upper body. It had a lace that fell over the front of the silk. It hugged her to the top of her waist before flowing naturally down her hips and legs. She wore black, closed toed high heels, tall enough so her dress didn't drag but not too tall that if she had to run, she would break her ankle.
Her hair was curled in soft waves that flowed over her shoulders and down to the small of her back. It really has grown out long since her fifth year at Hogwarts. She looked down at her pale hands, her nails painted a deep red that matched her lips. It was the only pop of color on her, besides her blue eyes that seemed to shine out from her mask. Aislinn wished she had a camera, so she could take a picture and show her family and friends at home what she looked like at that moment. When she finally felt she was ready, she noticed she held her head a little higher than normal and she had to smirk at that. With a quick turn on her heel, she made her way out of her dorm and down the steps into the common room. She linked arms with Jessica who bounced up to her. She had on a beautiful light blue dress, which Aislinn made a mental note of how she looked. Hopefully that dress would be one of the only light colored ones so she could be found easily. Though as she looked around the common room, there were all kinds of colors of dresses going on.
She nodded her head when her friends asked if she was ready. She felt butterflies start up in her stomach. "I'll only stay for a few hours. Then I will leave before anything can happen." She thought to herself before she stepped out of the portrait and into the somewhat crowded halls that lead to the Great Hall. She watched all the couples and students rush by her, all sizes and shapes rushing by her in a blur of color. Dresses short and long, dark and bright, she even saw some feathers and a ton of glitter. She walked arm and arm with Jessica as they came to the entrance of the hall. Was she ready for this? Not really. But she walked through the door anyway. Of course, it was absolutely amazing and beautiful inside. The music was loud and she watched as couples twirled around the dance floor, laughter and chatter was floating in the air as she walked around.
She felt Jessica slip her arm from hers as she ran off to say hello to someone she apparently recognized. She smiled to herself as she moved forward with the crowd. She didn't let her gaze linger on any one person too long, though she couldn't even tell you who was who anymore. The masks really were doing the trick. She made a big circle around the floor, proud of herself that she had not run into someone or tripped over someones dress train. She thought she saw someone, someone who shouldn't have been there. It had been a month since she "saw" Henry. And the masks apparently were the thing that would make her see him again. She turned her head to look over her shoulder, but as she finally locked eyes on who she thought was him, she realized it definitely wasn't. And thats when she collided with someone.
