The middle of the afternoon and usually the fourth year Hufflepuff would be in the Dark Arts. Today, however, he had decided to skip. He did not feel like being the target of several spells at once because of his status as a muggleborn. Nathan Daniels sighed as he quickly made his way through the halls of Hogwarts. He knew about the new rules of the class. He knew what would happen when the professor had taken roll call and discovered his absence. The black haired boy rubbed his wrist. It was still hurting from the class two days ago. They were trying out a new spell that would blast the opponent high into the air and they would fell onto the table. Unfortunally his left arm had hit it and he heard a popping sound. Nathan winced at the memory and shook his head. He would make a quick stop to the Hospital Wing for a quick check up and then he would probably head back to the common room. He knew that he would pay for it later but he didn’t care. After all, it was his fault that he was still there. It was his fault that he had talked his parents into letting him still be at the school. They were terrified of him and for good reason.[/size]
He shook his head at himself. Truth be told he wanted to be with his friends. He wanted to continue his schooling but he wanted to do that in the old world. A wistful look appeared in his eyes as he thought back to the original Hogwarts. Where people like him would be protected no matter what. “Hello Mr. Daniels.” Madam Pomfrey commented brightly. The sound of the nurse had made him jump, pulling himself out of his thoughts. I really do have to pay attention to my surroundings more, he thought shaking his head at himself again. She took a while, examining his wrist and making sure that it was alright. In the middle of the exam one of the students had peaked their heads in and Nathan’s heart almost sunk. It was one of the purebloods from the Dark Arts class. He left a few minutes later with a satisfied look. The fourteen year old silently prayed to Merlin that he won’t be in trouble. He left the wing twenty minutes later. His wrist was completely healed thanks to the magic that Madam Pomfrey had. He headed back to the common room, sure that he was going to get a quiet afternoon with just him and his pile of homework.
Oh how very wrong he was. The Hufflepuff common room was filled with older students. Those that had a long break in-between their classes. They looked at him curiously immediately asking if he was alright. Nathan had to laugh, once again being taken aback by the kindness the puffs had with one another. He assured them that he was. Assured them that the wrist was healed but he didn’t feel like being the target again. They all agreed that, if asked, they had not seen him. Nathan sighed in relief as he made his way up the stairs to gather his things. Thirty minutes later he was heading to the library, thinking that it would be quiet. That he would have his favorite seat. Thank Merlin he was right. Once in the library Nathan made his way over to the small table by the window. The perfect seat, he thought as he settled down. He took the History of Magic essay, two feet was the requirement, and started working on it.
