Anthony was in a foul mood today. Oh hell he was in a foul mood every day. He jammed his hands in his pockets as he wondered aimlessly through the corridors. Through the hallways of Hogwarts Castle. He eyed his fellow students as they walked past him. Some gave him a frightened look as they saw the color of his robes. The Slytherin green. He looked more closely and saw the silver band. The band that identified them as muggles. An evil smirk spread across his lips as he pulled out his wand. Better to take his anger out on a group of people than on his mates. “Hey there Mudbloods. Ready to bow down to your master?” The sneer was plain evident on his expression. His black eyes glittered with nothing but hate. The smallest muggle, obviously a first year, had let out a small whimper. He was in no mood to be kind. “Don’t gawk at me like a bunch of fools!” Yes, his father would have been proud at him. Proud that his son had learned something from his training. “Answer the bloody question!” He ran a hand through his equally black hair. They looked at each other, which made his temper rise even more. It was now at a boiling point.
Twenty five minutes later he continued on his way, feeling much better. He had tortured them. Made examples of them. It wasn’t wise to not answer to Anthony Mulciber. He now had a thoughtful look as he took a glance out the window. It was mildly warm for September. There could be a chance for him to take out his broom and just fly. Not even bothering to practice Quidditch. Of course, the Slytherin captain this year was already proven to be harsh. A mere few hours after the welcome feast they had sought him out. Already going about the schedule for this year! Anthony was only half paying attention. His other half was on a black haired beauty walking in the common room. His heart did a flop flop as he glanced at Aralynn. He could tell that a stupid grin was spreading across his face. He forced it away to his normal scowl. It was directed right away to the captain. He sighed to himself. He could consider himself lucky that his father didn’t hear about that. Or he would be subjected to torture, beatings, scolding. He shook his head at himself. He did not want to think about his father. All it was doing was darkening his mood.
Black eyes glanced around his surroundings. He was already on the floor where the Charms classroom was. He rolled his eyes, not wanting to go class. He didn’t want to be surrounded by people that were less than worthy. People that were below him. It sickened him that muggleborns were still, STILL, allowed to attend Hogwarts. A part of him was only satisfied when he learned they would be learning simple housework. Anthony wished the blood traitors would learn their place. Either that or being out casts along with Mudbloods. The seventeen year old leaned up against the wall. It wasn’t time to go into class yet. Merlin he still had another half hour. Curse him and the ability of wanting to get up early. Curse his father for putting promptness in his training. He was scowling now. It seemed like his mind was running on its own today. It was an annoying thing for Anthony that was for sure. He shook his head again as someone shouted his name. He gave a small twitch as he turned and his heart melted.

aralynn couldn't sleep anymore. but as she gazed at her clock the time showed two hours before she regularly would have had to awaken. grumbling to herself, she knew why she couldn't sleep. it was because her dreams had been filled with a certain someone. a someone whom had just openly confessed to her that he had feelings for her. mister anthony mulciber. a student in the same house and year as her. another pureblood student who would equally make her family proud of his bloodline and family's reputation. but she had never intended for anthony to fall for her. in fact, she had hoped that she would be able to set him up with her younger sister. but that hadn't been the case, nor had that been the way that anthony had felt. and it wasn't as if aralynn found it uncommon to have guys confess their feelings towards her. but this was different. something about her and his confession of his feelings made the insides of her stomach knot and flutter, and made her head fuzzy when she thought about him. she had known him for years. worked with him on class assignments, and played quiddich alongside him for years. but she had never really looked at him like that before. sure, they flirted and carried on, but with his genuine and truthful bearing of his feelings for her, aralynn had to rethink everything.
what exactly was anthony to her? and what did she want from him was what she found herself asking herself at five in the morning as she laid in her bed, hoping she would drift back into slumber. but the truth was, aralynn had no idea. for the first time in her life she realized that perhaps she might want more from anthony than just a quick shag or flirtatious relationship. he wasn't just one of the men she seduced into getting what she wanted. nor was he a simple puppet in a scheme of hers. the more she thought about him, the more she began to realize that perhaps she wanted a relationship with him. and that scared her. that terrified her so much because she didn't know how to be in a relationship. all her knew were tricks and schemes and sex. she didn't know romance or what it was like to actually be someone's girlfriend. she was pretty sure she would be horrible at it. but she didn't even know if that's what he wanted. he had just told her that he liked her and she had stood there like an idiot while he walked away. aralynn didn't do well when completely caught off guard. she was speechless and stunned, and it took her several minutes to actually process what had happened. and now that she had processed it, she couldn't get it out of her head.
tossing and turning several more times she felt herself fall back in and out of sleep. she knew she had a least gotten another half hour or so when her alarm clock went off. getting up, she got dressed and continued on with her regular morning activities, all with this secret of how anthony felt and how anthony made her feel. as she passed through the common room and into the great hall, she didn't see him. not like they made a usual habit to always be around one another on other occasions. but aralynn also felt relief for not having to face him, for she feared it would be awkward and uncomfortable. though, as she thought of the day ahead, she knew she would be coming across him in charms class. which just so happened to be the first class of her day. deciding quickly that she didn't want things to be awkward, and that they didn't need to be, aralynn figured she would go to class early, hopefully catching anthony before class so they could talk.
aralynn walked down the corridor to the charms room and was surprised when she saw anthony standing against the wall. maybe he had had the same thoughts as her? taking a deep breath and calming her quickening heart at his sight, aralynn spoke out to him, "anthony." she stopped close to him, gazing into his eyes. "i was hoping to find you here. about the other night..." aralynn began hesitant and unsure how to finish the sentence. there was so much she wanted to say and so much she couldn't quite explain. shaking her head and laughing slightly, she said the only thing she could think of, "i haven't been able to stop thinking about you."

The black haired boy turned and his heart melted. His gaze soon grew soft as the subject of his thoughts approached him. It should be a curse to look that good, Anthony thought to himself with a small nod to acknowledge her presence. He visibly tensed as she mentioned last night. He continued to watch her wearily. Surely she was going to throw it back in his face. Her words, however, surprised him. He was quiet for a minute or two, trying to get his thoughts together. So Aralynn felt the same way he did. Or was she saying that to pull him in? The seventh year frowned at that small voice in the back of his head. The one that told him he was not worth anyone’s time. He pushed it away, the weary look was still there of course. It never left his face for one minute. “Really?” Anthony hated how…pitiful his voice was. In all of his life he never met anyone who brought him out the way she did. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly at her laugh. He was starting to get annoyed. “So you said what you said and just laughed it off like that.”
A lot of students were passing them now. It was a struggle to lower his voice. The last thing he wanted to do was to draw attention to them. To those that were not in on their lives, it looked like two Slytherins were having a simple chat. They should know better, he thought, now crossing his arms and glancing down at the brown haired beauty. It was strange. The directions his thoughts were going in right now. Switching from one subject to the next. Anthony did not want to dwell on that. Oh no. He wanted to make sure Aralynn heard him out. “Last night you had kissed me and walked, or rather ran, off. To tell you the truth I was…stunned. Horrified. Regretful was more like it. I did not know what else to do. Telling you was simply the right thing.” He took a deep breath as his mouth ran on. “One would think, why didn’t they tell each other about this early? Fifth year perhaps? Why wait until now?” He shrugged. “Sure our families are in the same circle. We saw each other around during our childhood. Didn’t get to know the other that well. But it all comes down to simply…fate.”
He closed his eyes. Anthony was mentally cursing himself for letting his mouth run on. For telling her some of his thoughts. Some of his fears. The number one rule Anthony had was simple enough. Do not let anyone in. His heart was simply made of ice. Cold and it took a lot for people to see his other side. That cursed vulnerable side. How did he deal with that? By being mean and nasty to other students. Students that were already being targeted for what they are. For what they were born into. His black eyes now glittered like cold stones. He took a deep breath, suddenly fearful for what Aralynn was going to say in reply to that. He glanced away trying to transfixed his gaze to the wall. It failed as his eyes kept on flickering to her every few seconds. Anthony frowned. “Maybe it was meant for both of us to cross each other’s paths now. I mean sure, you’ll get the occasional nod or wave. We Slytherins don’t exactly talk a lot especially me.”
A weary smile started to appear on his lips. He kept his eyes firmly fixed on Aralynn. Anthony wouldn’t admit it out loud unless he let his traitor mouth do the talking for him. But he was scared. Scared that she’ll soon start to laugh, calling him a fool among other things. Do not even think about it, a part of him hissed. You’ll come to that when it comes. Otherwise think of something else. He mentally rolled his eyes. Anthony could be bossy at times, often with himself. Why then, would he not start to show that side to others. It would save a lot of potential heartache. A lot of his time and thoughts. To be honest he didn’t know what he would do. All he knew was that he feared her reaction. He could just picture it as well. Silence soon spread between the two Slytherins. Awkward silences wasn’t something that he was used to. In the meantime he was going to bear it all. For the simple fact that Anthony Mulciber was in love.

aralynn wasn't sure what she expected when she found anthony, but she hadn't imagined he would have been as defensive as she currently found him. resting up against a wall, anthony peered at aralynn as she spoke thoughts of him haunting her. it was strange for aralynn, for she had never really felt the things she was feeling before, and therefore hadn't handled the situation to the best of her ability. it was true, anthony had confessed to aralynn his feelings for her. and it was true that aralynn had responded by kissing anthony. and it was even true that she had run off afterwards, but that was because he had just stood there, stunned. he obviously could think of nothing to say and aralynn had no idea that her action of kissing him would have the effect on herself that it did. see, in that moment where her lips touched his lips, aralynn felt scared. scared because she had never wanted anything so badly before. scared because her heart pounded and fluttered and did all those flip flop things she had never experienced before. and as anthony continued talking, aralynn couldn't help but feel her heart drop in her stomach. his words were so cruel, and aralynn hated herself for allowing herself to be so vulnerable with him. she wanted to harden her heart and laugh him off. but she couldn't. "yes, you told me you had feelings for me. and yes, i kissed you in response. it was the only thing i could think about doing in that moment. and yes, i even ran off after. but you weren't exactly doing anything else but staring at me, stunned," aralynn spoke, hoping to at least give him a reason why she ran off. "i was speechless, so what else could i have done?" as aralynn listened to anthony let his mouth run off, she couldn't help but feel angry and conflicted inside. yes, there was the part of herself that was hitting her for allowing herself to think so foolishly about anthony. but there was another part of her that was angry at him for allowing him to be this way. he had come to her after all. she hadn't sought him out to tell him about any sort of emotions she was hiding. he had done all of that. she wasn't even aware that he had liked her. and now as she heard him speak about telling her in fifth year, aralynn wondered further just how much he had been hiding. she had no idea that he had liked her, and that was an odd occurrance for aralynn. normally she knew who was crushing on her and how to make that into an advantage for her. whether it be for sexual purposes, or for scheming purposes. she liked to know who she could play with and manipulate. but to throw out that he potentially has been crushing on her since fifth year, then to throw in the fact that they don't have to speak to one another again, aralynn was confused. she held back the impulse to slap him right then and there.
"anthony, what is wrong with you?" aralynn asked, her voice grazed with a hint of harshness. "why did you tell me you liked me and are now back-reeling? telling me that i'll perhaps get the odd nod or greeting? you're being ridiculous, and obviously you need someone to tell you that." aralynn's eyes focused steady on anthony's. her hand instinctively going out to catch his hand. "anthony, you want to know the real reason why i ran away after i kissed you? because of how it made me feel. how amazing it was to kiss you, and how scared those feelings made me feel." she released his hand, the short moment of intimacy between them over.
aralynn took a step back, breaking herself from anthony and what was becoming almost too much for her. she hated that this was so hard for her, so hard for him. "you're right. we're two slytherins. we're so stubborn and unbending. telling someone you like them shouldn't be this difficult, and yet here we are, not being able to trust the other." she wasn't exactly aware of anthony's past of the things in it, but she knew that most slytherins, especially those raised in the pureblood wealth had grown up with expectations and learned not to trust those around them. that was why aralynn was having such a hard time with this. the idea of trusting another human fully was not something she liked. but from the moments she had began to experience, she wondered just how liberating and amazing it could be if you truly let someone else in.

----------------------------- He continued to lean up against the wall, his eyes were filled with slight fury. Only just as he finished telling her his thoughts. His most inner thoughts that he would probably never tell anyone. Anthony ran a hand through his dark hair. The seventh year was quiet as he listened to her. Her words were hitting close to home. They always ended up doing that. His mind whirled with many thoughts. The main worry was what he should be saying to her in response. And that would be what Mulciber? Think! The small voice in the back of his head hissed at him. Anthony was not expecting this. He focused his attention on a small group of second years as they passed. He noted with disdained that they were muggleborn by the band on their robes. His hand slowly started to go towards his pocket but he stopped. No. He couldn’t do that. No when he was talking to Aralynn about their possible future. Anthony needed to focus on the present situation at hand. He took a deep breath. “What did you expect me to do Aralynn? Chase after you and begged you to take me in?” Even he flinched at his words. “You could have had least stayed and found your voice to talk. Talk. I was worried. I was worried that I had made a complete and utter fool of myself to the most prettiest girl in all Slytherin.”
Anthony was not sure what her reaction to his words might be. Especially his last words. Yes, he had consider her to be pretty. More prettier than the other girls. She had something special going on about her that had him drawn to her. He was still trying to figure out what that was. He hesitated, perhaps regretting his words. He took a step back, completely taken back at her words. Ridiculous? Him? That was impossible. Her next words made his heart nearly stopped. It was a few minutes before he could finally find his voice so he could speak again. The Slytherin took a step forward. “Fiery little woman are you? The matter of fact is that I do like you. A lot. Put yourself in my shoes for a minute.” He paused, now looking wearily at her. Should he tell her? The real reason why he was the way he was? He glanced around at the halls, making sure that no one was listening before continuing. “I never let anyone in. You can blame my father for that. The constant…..abuse. Constantly being told that I was never good. Worthless. My emotions always get the better of me Miss Nott. They overrule me. Why do you think I’m always being mean or putting people down? The habits that I got from my father….well, you’ll be surprised at what I can do.”
The Slytherin took a deep breath as he closed his eyes. It was a mere second before he opened them up again. He enjoyed her hand holding his. Curse Merlin for the enjoyment being short lived. “I never let anyone, and I mean anyone, in. For the constant fear of being ridiculed. Foolish. Shunned. I can go on and on.” The corners of his lips twitched upwards into a small smile. “Miss Nott, I have slight difficulty on expressing any emotions. I was raised in a loveless home. The only time I ever felt love….was that moment when we kissed.” Quite honestly he was surprised that she wasn’t running away from him, screaming her head off. He wouldn’t be surprised if she did. Anthony didn’t know why he did it. He raised his arm and gently stroked her hair, her cheek. His hand lingered for a few blissful moments. His expression softened almost considerably. The seventeen year old finally lowered his hand. He supposed he could try to let Aralynn in. After all, she was probably the only girl he ever held interest in. Anthony never really held a special interest in girls. He was afraid of getting hurt. One of the many reasons why he turned down so many girls.
It was pathetic he knew. Anthony sighed at his thoughts, wondering if he was, indeed, crazy. Well, that was a stupid thought. A lot of people thought he was crazy. Sick. Mentally ill. Especially what had happened in his fifth year when he had attacked Mary Macdonald. Hmphm, the Mudblood deserved what she had got, he thought. And this year I’ll be sure to make her life a living nightmare. Finally pulling himself from his thoughts he gazed down at her, realization hitting him fully. He loved her. He was prepared to spend the rest of his life with her. That was, if she let him. “I love you Aralynn Nott.” The five simple words came out of his mouth. “Letting people in…it’s hard for me. You can understand why now.” Tagged. Aralynn Words. 816 Notes. Here it is! I am so so so sorry it took me this long hun! Credits. The template is credit to Laura.
