----------------------------- It was finally the weekend. It was finally the first official Hogsmeade visit and Adrian was looking forward to it. Once he had gotten out of his dorm he grabbed his thin cloak and wrapped it around him. The air was quite chilly for September. A sign that winter would soon be on its way. The mere thought of that made Adrian frown. He was not a winter person. He loathed the cold and the snow. More cold than the latter. There was a couple of times that he had woken up in the middle of the night. Winds howling against the windows. Snow blowing everywhere. It wasn’t a very pretty sound. He shuddered a bit to himself as he shook his head. Enough of that, he told himself. Think pleasant thoughts. He had arranged a time and a place for his sisters to meet him later on. It was one of the few times that the three Nott siblings would be seen together. Of course, he was always seen glaring around at the few guys that would dare try to pull anything on them. He wanted to make sure that his sisters, despite the fact that Aralynn was a year older, were taken care of. He knew that they found it infuriating. He knew what that was like now that he come to think of it. His father was in the process of setting up an arrange marriage. Something that made Adrian loath the man even more.
Why bother with an arrange marriage? Why would I even marry someone I doubt I would ever love? Those were the questions that were going through his mind now as he made his way out of the castle. He easily blended in with the crowd of students. Most of them were from his own house. Arrange marriage. It was a subject that always got underneath Adrian’s skin. His father would have none of his protests. The only thing that the sixteen year old boy could do right now is to be a good little solider. Be a good little follower unless he wanted to be kicked out or disowned from the family. A scowl appeared on his face. Whoever was the unlucky bride had the unfortunate mishap of knowing him. Adrian tended to close people off. More so for his own good. He was good at being in social settings such as dinner parties and the such. He tried to keep a neutral expression. The matter of truth was that Adrian tended to be weary of people. Not trusting them and thus not allowing him to express his emotions. Some people might had gone too far to say that he was emotionally detached. Those people usually ran for their lives as soon as Adrian heard that.
The sixth year Slytherin shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts as he made his way to his first stop. The Three Broomsticks. It would be him only for now. He wanted a chance to be with himself and hopefully his mates would be along for the ride. He’ll never know what might happen today. He had an amused expression on his face as he finally entered the popular pub at Hogsmeade. As he suspected it was already packed. He walked up to the counter to order himself a butterbeer. As he waited for his drink he turned, scanning the pub. There was a small table in the far left back corner. Away from the door. Perfect, he thought as he turned back. He thanked Rosmerta and took off with the drink. He sat down, making himself comfortable as he took off his cloak. The Slytherin frowned, feeling eyes watching him as he slowly turned to see who it was. Tagged. Keegan! Words. 625 Notes. Woot! Let's get this show on the road! Credits. ----------------------------- Black eyes met a blonde haired girl and Adrian had to smirk. His spirits lifted up a bit at the seventh year girl. Of all the people to encounter here it had to be her, he thought dryly. The sixteen year old was not being sarcastic that’s for sure. He liked Keegan more than he liked the other girls in Slytherin House. He found them to be too cold and aloof for his liking. That was rich coming from someone who kept people at a distance. He was afraid to let people get too close to him. His heart was surrounded in ice but he felt it melt a little as she approached. He ran a hand through his hair, taking a deep breath. Just be yourself ‘Dian, he thought. She seen you at your best and worst. This is nothing. Just as…what do those blasted muggles call it? This is easy as a walk in the park? He mentally snorted. Stupid animals. His eyes light up a bit as he returned the kiss. “And hello to you to beautiful.” He drawled looking at her up and down. Keegan was a bit of a catch he would have to admit that. He was wary around her. Not like he was around the other girls. He could not help but to snort when she asked if that seat was taken. He bit back a retort that had risen in him.
Instead he had told her, “No it isn’t. Go right ahead and make yourself comfortable Miss Greengrass. I do enjoy your company after all.” He took another sip of his drink as he watched the other Slytherin. He felt a bit nervous now truth be told. He was not sure what he would be doing after he left the small pub. Probably go looking for Alexandria and making sure that she was alright. The corners of his lips twitched upwards into a small smile. Adrian loved his sisters. He would make sure they were alright. His eyes glittered as he became lost in his thoughts. He ran a hand through his hair frowning now as he glanced around at the pub again. It was filling up with students again. A small sigh escaped from his lips as he held a look of amusement in his eyes. He drummed his fingers on the table as he glanced over at the blonde bombshell that was Keegan. His gaze softened a bit as he smirked a little. “Enjoying your last and final year? You’re not cracking with the insane amount of homework they had given you yet?” He took another sip of his drink as he became lost in his thoughts again. He was in his sixth year. One more year left before he graduated.
Adrian was looking forward to leaving Hogwarts. He wanted to do something more worthwhile. Sure, he did look forward to the Dark Arts. He looked forward to testing out the latest spell on the muggleborns. He loved seeing the look of pain, hearing the painful screams. The Slytherin sighed a bit as he frowned a little. He had his future all planned out for him. He was going to join the Death Eaters when he was of age. He wanted to last year but that was shot down by his father. Lord Voldemort certainly would not have any uses for a sixteen year old. Even one that was so well trained. Adrian could not help but to twitch a bit. Those were the words that had come out of his mouth. Sometimes Adrian wondered what would have happened to him had he NOT been a pureblood and a Slytherin. Ever since he was little he had been trained like a perfect solider. He blinked as he glanced up at his best friend. He felt the strangest of feelings when he was with Keegan. He ran a hand through his black hair sighing a bit. He felt…conflicted he guessed that was the word for it. He certainly did not want to betray his father and the family of the girl that was arranged to be his wife.
He wished he had a sense of who he was going to be wed to. It was a nightmare that he couldn’t be allowed to know the girl. Knowing his father, it would be someone who was cruel and heartless. Idly he wondered if he could be with someone that was like that. The corners of his lips twitched into the tiniest of smiles. Adrian realized that he was being foolish. If only father could hear his thoughts now. He would be locked up in his room or in the basement of the manor. Being tortured for thinking rebellious and traitorous thoughts. He blinked, also realizing that he was being rude to his best mate. Even if she was a girl. “Sorry,” He apologized. “I just have a lot on my mind.” Tagged. Keegan! Words. 819 Notes. ----------------------------- The black haired boy could not help but to smirk as he watched his friend closely. In a way Adrian was glad that it was Keegan that had come to him and not some random student. He was sure that he would have ended up either cursing or hexing the poor mate. After all, Adrian Nott was not a force to be reckoned with that was for sure. Still do not believe him? His sisters would say the same thing as well as the rest of his mates. The sixteen year old was incredibly stubborn to a fault. One of the numerous traits that he had to inherit from his father. The other one was a learned trait and that was keeping people away at arm’s length. One lesson he had learned was that one wasn’t sure whether to trust people. Trust was a fragile thing indeed. One that could easily be shattered and hard to bring back. He sighed softly as his attention was focused on the elder girl that was sitting beside him. After their meeting when they were younger the two of them seemed to have hit it off. He was always there for her and vice versa. Idly he wondered what his parents would think if he suddenly proclaimed his love for the blonde haired girl. He blinked a couple of times, suddenly feeling very foolish. What on earth was he thinking?
He couldn’t possibly have any feelings for her. She was like another sister to him and there was no problem with that. He was able to tell her anything, well almost everything. There were a couple of things he kept from Keegan. His developing feelings for her was one of the matter. It had started last year when he seemed to notice her in a different light. He seemed to notice that she was more attractive. He liked to make her laugh. Merlin he liked hearing her laugh. The corners of his lips twitched downwards into a small frown. What he wouldn’t like to do more than to lean over and kiss her. A lot of their fellow students would probably gasp and wonder what on earth was wrong with him. Surely he must be possessed or something. A small sigh escaped from his lips as he took another sip of his drink. It was clear that Adrian was worried, very much worried. He would have to say something sooner or else he would go completely crazy. He was worried on what Keegan would think when he spilled out his feelings. His love for his seemly best friend. She would probably think that he was crazy and she would want nothing to do with him again. Oh sure that was what he needed. He cannot afford to ruin their relationship now.
Not when he liked things the way they were. Thankfully it was Keegan who had brought him out of his thoughts. He couldn’t help but to snort. “After Christmas break? Keegan I’m completely shocked at you. You should crack more often because I find it secretly hilarious when you do.” He smirked as a sign to show that he was joking. Adrian was suddenly terrified now as he managed to hide it well. He had walked in when she was stressing out in the common room. It was a night that he would never forget. He grew quiet as he remembered last year. He remembered how stressed out he was over his exams. The black eyed boy wanted to get a perfect score on all of them, not just several. After all, his father would either lock him in his room or murder him on sight. Adrian remembered last summer when the results of the exams were in. He was thankful that he had passed every one minus of course History of Magic. Who needed the school’s version when he had his father? Surprisingly Lucas was not that mad as he thought he would. Adrian had heard him mumbling at the way things were done at the castle. It was something that amused the sixth year boy. As a matter of fact, it still amused him even today.
Adrian was quiet for several minutes when she asked if everything was okay. He felt like he was going to burst and outright confess his love for her. He reached out with his other hand to lay it on top of hers. The free hand he used to take another sip of his drink. There was one thing to be said about the relationship between the two Slytherins. They were able to tell the other anything that was on their minds. Adrian owed her far more than that. He felt there was an explanation at hand that was long overdue. He sighed softly. “It’s just with things at home. You met my father and you know how strict he is. I just found out that he’s already arranging my marriage with a pureblood girl. I hate the thought of being with those kind of girls that could care less about other people and cared more about themselves. Don’t get me wrong. Sure it’s good to see a good looking girl but to spend hours fixing themselves up.” It was here that he made a face. He did appreciate a naturally good looking girl. One that was less…selfish he guessed was the right word for it. “I respect my father and I know my place to uphold the traditions that I have been taught when I was eight years old. If I had a say in the matter I would marry for love. And I do love another girl I just haven’t told her because I fear she would think I have gone completely batty.” He fixed his suddenly blazing gaze on the girl that was sitting next to him. She meant the world to him and he wanted to be in her life forever. He wanted to take care of her and make sure that she was okay. He knew that he was a year younger than her so what? The truth of the matter was that he was in love with Keegan Greengrass. He wanted her to know it. Tagged. Keegan! Words. 1035 Notes. ----------------------------- Adrian held a look of amusement as she spoke. He couldn’t help but to snicker. “Of course I would enjoy it because, frankly my dear, you look even more beautiful when you’re freaking out. Or haven’t you noticed that already?” He inquired, black eyes gazing down at her. This time they were hallow, with no emotions to them. He was putting up a mental guard against his feelings. The last thing he needed to do was to break down in a very public place. The sixteen year old had the sneaking suspicion that the students would tease him to no end if he did. The joy of knowing only the ‘right’ purebloods, he thought dryly as he ran a hand through his hair. He took another sip of his drink as he remembered what his father had said about purebloods. There was only two categories to identify purebloods. The right ones and the blood traitors. Lucas Nott would be surprised at how much his son would remember the lessons that were sometimes beaten into him. His eyes flashed with a little bit of anger as he sighed softly. He glanced up as the door opened and more students rushed in. They were laughing and talking and pushing each other playfully.
He couldn’t help but to roll his eyes at them. If it was up to him he would be pushing those students up against the wall. Maybe teaching them a lesson or a couple. His eyes glistened with the prospect as he slowly went in his robe pocket for his wand. He relaxed a bit as he felt the wood make contact with his fingers. Adrian always made sure that the wand was stored in an easy to reach place when he was out and about. Merlin only knows who he would end up encounter. After lowering the goblet again he watched his friend’s face closely. “What’s going on in that little head of yours?” He asked curiously, gently tapping his finger on her forehead. “You look like you’re about to explode. What’s up?” As much as he wanted to think he did, Adrian didn’t know her in and out like he thought he did. “What’s bothering you?” His eyes flashed a bit. “Did someone hurt you Keeg? If they did they wouldn’t live another day until I track them down and teach them a lesson.” He growled dangerously low. Adrian Nott was a bit over protective to a fault. It was something that annoyed his sisters greatly.
His gaze darkened as he looked at her. “You’d be surprise at how much I’m hiding Greengrass.” This was the ‘aloof and cold’ Adrian. He was able to switch moods in a flash depending on the conversation at hand. “If the girl knows that I like her then I doubt she would want anything to do with me. But I suppose there is no harm in asking her when I get back to the common room. I think you know her.” Adrian was playing for time. He was trying, and failing, to get Keegan off that subject. He didn’t want her to know it was her. He let out a snort, his playful side was back to him. “I know you would want to see that. It would be a wonder to see you all dressed up.” He grew quiet for several minutes. It was finally time to fess up he guessed. “Well she’s in our year and is considered to be one of my dearest friends. A pretty looking good girl with blonde hair. She’s smart and funny and fiery sometimes.” His eyes glazed over as he gazed down at her, hoping that she would get who he was talking about. He slowly reached over and gently laid a hand on her arm. He battled with himself, quiet for a few minutes before taking a deep slow breath.
“The person I’m talking about is sitting right here beside me. She’s…you.” It was here that Adrian paused taking a breather. Now that the secret was out he tensed up, waiting. Being the idiot he was he found himself telling her, “I know my father’s arranging a marriage already. But…maybe I could change his mind. Convince him that you are the one for me. Which anyone with eyes should see it was meant to be. One way or another. I hope.” He quickly shut up after that. His eyes darted between her and the whole room, suddenly nervous out of his mind. He gently stroked her arm for several minutes before slowly releasing it. There was a few times that something would scare one Adrian Nott. This time was one of them. Adrian was never good at expressing his feelings ‘the right way’. The only way that he knew was through torture or physical harm. This display of emotions was…well new to him. People around the school had known him only for being one of the few Slytherins that were ‘emotionally detached’ from the public. He considered such displays weak and unnecessarily. It would make one into an instant target for a few people that haunt down such things.
An awkward silence soon spread between the two of them. He nervously ran a hand through his hair, unsure of how to deal with this. As a matter of fact, he wasn’t sure whether or not he wanted to deal with this. He had brought out the secret he had been withholding ever since….Ever since what? A small voice asked in the back of his mind. A few years now it has to be. Alright, this was a sure mind that Adrian was going crazy. Answering yourself silent questions must be high on the list that suggest you go see the muggle shrink. Or the school nurse. He winced. If Lucas would read his son’s thoughts right now the black haired boy wouldn’t live for a few years. He would surely be locked up in the basement and tortured endlessly. Oh yes, that was a lovely picture indeed. Tagged. Keegan! Words. 1,004 Notes. GAH. You can KILL me for the lateness lovely! But the secret is out! Credits. The template is credit to Laura.
